The cheapest PS5 games to play in India

The price on the shelf is only half the sum. What a game really costs you is what you pay, minus what a store hands back when you are done with it.

7 min readBy DiscScout

A game disc with a thin wedge cut out of it, the hatched wedge lying beside three coins.

The cheapest PS5 game in India is not the one with the lowest price tag.

Take Helldivers 2. GameLoot sells a used disc for ₹1,099, and Console Garage pays ₹1,000 in cash for one. Buy it, play it for a month, sell it back, and the whole thing cost you ₹99. Now take a ₹999 game that only one store buys back, for ₹300. That "cheaper" game just cost you ₹699, seven times as much.

That difference is the whole idea behind DiscScout, and this guide is the leaderboard for it.

How cost to play works

The sum is simple:

Cost to play = cheapest used disc anywhere − most cash anyone will pay for it

Both halves come from the four stores we track: Dacby, GameLoot, GameNation and Console Garage. Each one sells used discs and buys them back, and each one posts both prices on its website. We read all of them every morning, a little after 9.

Here's how the sum played out for a few games on 3 October:

GameCheapest discBest cash backCost to play
Helldivers 2₹1,099 at GameLoot₹1,000 from Console Garage₹99
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced₹3,399 at GameLoot₹3,200 from Dacby₹199
Kingdom Come Deliverance II₹3,599 at GameLoot₹3,300 from Dacby₹299
Marvel's Wolverine₹4,599 at GameLoot₹3,800 from Console Garage₹799
Immortals of Aveum₹2,700 at Console Garage₹1,100 from Dacby₹1,600

Notice something? In every single row, the store you buy from is not the store you sell to.

That is the part most people miss. If you buy Black Flag Resynced from GameLoot and sell it back to GameLoot, you get ₹2,500, and the game costs you ₹899. Sell it to Dacby instead and it costs ₹199. Same disc, same month of play, ₹700 apart.

The leaderboard

These are the games that cost least to play right now, counting cash only. Every row links to the game's own page, where you can see each store's price and its history.

Cash only, because cash spends anywhere. Discs under ₹999 are left out of this list.

I've left out discs under ₹999 from this list. Old sports games like FIFA 22 regularly show up at "free to play" because a store sells them for ₹800 and another pays ₹800 back. That's true, but it pushes every game anyone is actually looking for off the board.

What if you take store credit?

Three of the four stores offer more in store credit than in cash. Count that, and the numbers get better: on 3 October, 10 games cost nothing or paid you to play, and 32 cost ₹250 or less.

Store credit only spends at the store that gave it, on that store's stock.

The catch is that credit only spends at the store that gave it, on that store's stock, at that store's prices. I wrote a whole guide on when store credit is worth taking over cash. The short version: it's worth it only if you were going to buy your next game from that store anyway.

What every game costs to play

The leaderboard is the good end. Here's the whole picture: every game that at least one store sells and at least one store buys back for cash.

What every game in stock costs to play

Live from the four stores' prices, read 10 Oct 2026

  • You come out level or ahead2
  • ₹1 to ₹25010
  • ₹251 to ₹50053
  • ₹501 to ₹1,00087
  • ₹1,001 to ₹2,00022
  • More than ₹2,0001

175 games that someone sells and someone buys back for cash. The typical one costs ₹649 and returns 74% of what you paid.

On 3 October, that was 156 games. Here's what stood out to me.

  • Most games cost between ₹500 and ₹1,000 to play. 133 of the 156 came in at ₹1,000 or less. For a game you'd otherwise pay ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 for new, that's a different hobby.
  • The middle is ₹699. That's the cost of a typical game, buying used and selling for the best cash offer.
  • About 73% comes back. The median game returns 72.6% of what you paid for the disc.
  • The expensive tail is predictable. The games that cost ₹1,500 or more are almost all imported editions, niche titles one store sells, or special editions nobody buys back at a premium.

What makes a game cheap to play

After staring at these numbers every day, the pattern is pretty clear. A game is cheap to play when there's a lot of demand for it on the trade-in counter, not when it's cheap to buy.

Recent big releases that people still want

Black Flag Resynced costs ₹199 to play and Kingdom Come Deliverance II costs ₹299, even though both sell for well over ₹3,000 used. Stores pay a lot for them because they can resell them fast. A high price that holds is better for you than a low price that collapses.

Live games with a long tail

Helldivers 2 came out in 2024 and still sells. People keep looking for it, so stores keep buying it back at close to what they sell it for. That ₹99 cost to play is the result.

Old games at the bottom of their curve

When a disc has already lost most of its value, there's not much left to lose. Gotham Knights at ₹999 with ₹850 back is ₹149 to play. The catch is that these are older games, and you've probably played them already.

What costs the most

  • Imported and regional editions. The imported Call of Duty Modern Warfare III sells for ₹4,200 at Console Garage and the same store pays ₹2,100 back. That's ₹2,100 to play. More on this in imported vs Indian PS5 games.
  • Games one store sells and nobody wants back. Immortals of Aveum is ₹2,700 at Console Garage and the best cash offer is ₹1,100.
  • Niche or party games. Overcooked All You Can Eat is ₹2,499 at Dacby with ₹1,000 back.

The catches

The sum on this page is the sum of the posted prices. Real life has a few more lines in it.

  1. Shipping, both ways. Buying online usually means a delivery charge unless you cross a minimum, and selling by courier or pickup has its own terms. Check the store's terms for both halves before you count on the number.
  2. Condition checks. The cash offer is for a disc in good condition with its case. A scratched disc or a missing cover gets less, or gets sent back. Read how to check a used disc before selling before you ship anything.
  3. Prices move. The board is worked out every morning. What a store pays for a game in three months will usually be lower than what it pays today. That is the whole subject of how fast a PS5 game loses resale value.
  4. Stock moves faster than prices. A used disc is one copy. If the cheapest one sells, the next cheapest might be ₹400 more.

So, is the number on this page what you'll actually pay?

Close to it, if you finish the game and sell it back within a few weeks. The longer you hold on, the more the "back" half shrinks.

How to use this yourself

The board above is the same sum the rest of DiscScout runs on. A few ways to use it:

  • Browse by cost. The games list, sorted by cost, puts every disc by what it costs to play, not just by price.
  • Pick your stores. If you'd never buy from one store, untick it in the store picker in the top bar. Every number on the site, including the cost to play, is worked out again from the stores you actually use.
  • Count credit if you take it. The same picker has a box for counting store credit. Tick it and the cost to play uses each store's better offer, cash or credit.

Questions people ask

What does "cost to play" mean?

It's the cheapest price for a used disc at any of the four stores, minus the most cash any of them will pay you for it afterwards. It's what owning the game for a while actually costs, assuming you sell it back.

Can a game really cost nothing to play?

Yes, on paper. When one store prices a disc low to clear it and another store pays well for it, the gap can close to zero or even flip. On 3 October, NBA 2K24 Kobe Bryant Edition sold for ₹1,199 at GameNation while Console Garage paid ₹1,200 for one. These gaps don't last long, and shipping usually eats the last few rupees.

Why is cash the default and not store credit?

Cash spends anywhere. Store credit only spends at the store that issued it, so counting it by default would make every game look cheaper than it is for anyone who doesn't shop there. You can switch credit on in the store picker.

Does cost to play include shipping?

No. Shipping depends on where you live, how many discs you order and whether you cross a store's free delivery minimum, so we can't work it out for you. Treat the number as the floor.

How often does the leaderboard change?

Every day. All four stores are read once every morning, and every number on this page is worked out again from that read.

Summing up

  • Looking for the cheapest game to play? Look at what comes back, not at the price tag. A ₹3,400 game that holds its value can cost less than a ₹999 game nobody wants.
  • Buying and selling at the same store? Don't. The best buy and the best payout are usually at different stores, and the difference is often ₹500 or more.
  • Taking store credit? Only if your next game is coming from that same store.
  • Holding on to a game? Sell it soon after you finish. The payout only goes one way.
