GTA 6 Standard vs Ultimate Edition: which should you buy?
The Ultimate Edition costs ₹1,500 more in India. For that you get 16 extras, no in-game money and no box. Here's the full list, and who it's worth it for.
GTA 6 comes in two editions, and in India the gap between them is ₹1,500. That's the price of a couple of used PS5 games, so it's worth knowing exactly what it buys.
I went through every item Rockstar, the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store list for both editions. The short version: Ultimate is a cosmetics and side-content pack. It's nice, but it isn't a different game.

What both editions get
Pre-order either edition before launch and you get the same two bonuses.
The Vintage Vice City Pack
- A '55 Vapid Stanier, a classic sedan, with a garage at Shore Court near Ocean Beach that has a weapon locker and a place to stash stolen goods.
- One outfit and hairstyle each for Jason and Lucia, both in full 1980s Vice City style.
- A tropical weapon pattern for most guns, a nod to Tommy Vercetti's shirt.
Like everything else in both editions, these unlock as the story goes on, not all at once.
One month of GTA+
This one needs reading carefully. GTA+ is Rockstar's membership for GTA Online, the online mode of GTA 5, not for GTA 6. The free month gives a GTA Online character GTA$500,000, a garage and car discounts in GTA Online, and access to some older Rockstar games. Nothing in any store listing says it adds anything inside GTA 6.
A few more catches:
- It's for digital purchases. PlayStation India's page says the month goes to people who buy the digital version, of either edition, before 20 November.
- It renews into a paid plan. After the free month, GTA+ costs ₹624 a month on both stores until you cancel.
- There's a deadline. On PS5 it has to be redeemed by 31 March 2027. On Xbox, within 180 days of your pre-order.
If you don't play GTA 5 online, the GTA+ month is worth nothing to you. Don't let it decide your edition.
What Ultimate adds
Here's every item the Ultimate Edition Upgrade adds, grouped by what it actually changes:

That last row is the interesting part. Without Ultimate, those five shops exist in the world but stay closed. For anyone who spends hours modding cars and dressing characters, that's real content you would otherwise never see.
What Ultimate doesn't add
- No in-game money. None of the four official listings mentions any cash for GTA 6.
- No early access. Both editions unlock and pre-load on the same days.
- No extra story. The two activities are side content, not new chapters.
- No online content. GTA 6 launches as a single-player game.
- Not all at once. Items are spread across the story, and some, like the Cheetah, only arrive late.
Is Ultimate worth ₹1,500?
So, should you pay the extra?
For most people, no. The core game is identical, and nothing in Ultimate makes it easier to finish or more fun to play for the first time. A faster car early on is nice, but GTA has never been short of cars to steal.
For a certain kind of player, yes. If your favourite part of GTA 5 was the mod shop and the tattoo parlour, Ultimate opens two extra mod shops, a salon, a tattoo studio and a clothing store, each with gear you can't get anywhere else. That's a fair amount of content for ₹1,500.
One more thing to factor in: neither edition can be resold. A disc game bought used and sold back typically cost ₹699 to play on 3 October 2026. GTA 6 costs its full price either way, and Ultimate adds ₹1,500 to money you won't see again.
Buying on PS5 vs Xbox
The editions and prices are the same on both. The difference is in upgrading later.
- On Xbox, the Ultimate Edition Upgrade is on sale now for ₹1,500. You can buy Standard, play for a while, and add Ultimate later for exactly the difference.
- On PS5, the PlayStation Store lists the upgrade but marks it not available for purchase, with no price, as of 4 October. Nobody has confirmed whether it goes on sale at launch.
So on PS5, if you're fairly sure you want Ultimate, it's safest to buy Ultimate outright. If you're unsure, buy Standard and see whether the upgrade appears after launch.

If you're buying a boxed copy
Only Standard comes boxed, and the box holds a download code, not a disc. That code is locked to the region of your PlayStation account, so buy one sold for India if your account is Indian. To get Ultimate from a boxed Standard, you'd need the upgrade add-on, which on PS5 isn't on sale yet.

What's the difference between GTA 6 Standard and Ultimate?
Ultimate adds 16 extras on top of the full game: vehicles, engraved weapons, outfits and tattoos, two side activities and five shops that stay closed without it. The game, the story and the release date are the same.
How much is GTA 6 Ultimate Edition in India?

- Customisation fans: Ultimate's five extra shops are the real reason to pay ₹1,500 more.
- On Xbox and unsure: buy Standard and add the upgrade later for the same price.
- On PS5 and sure you want Ultimate: buy Ultimate now. The separate upgrade isn't on sale yet.
- Ignore the GTA+ month when deciding. It's for GTA 5's online mode.
